Cancelling a Placement

How to cancel an active placement as a buyer, what happens next, and what rights the seller retains.

You can cancel any active placement at any time, no questions asked. Here's what happens.

How to cancel

  1. Go to /dashboard/placements
  2. Click the placement you want to cancel
  3. Click Cancel placement
  4. Confirm

What happens immediately

  • The Stripe subscription is cancelled — no further charges
  • The seller is notified immediately
  • The placement status changes to Cancelled

The 30-day wind-down

After cancellation, the seller has 30 days to remove the content from their site. During this window:

  • The content remains live (and so does your link)
  • The seller is under no obligation to keep the content live after the 30-day window
  • You don't receive a refund for the final month (you paid for, and received, that month's placement)

This gives both sides a clean handover. You stop paying immediately; the seller has reasonable time to remove paid content without disruption.

What the seller can and can't do

Can:

  • Remove the link from the article after 30 days
  • Remove the entire article (less common, usually stays in place)
  • Update the article to remove references to you

Cannot:

  • Charge you for additional months beyond the cancellation month
  • Retain your link and demand payment to remove it
  • Move the link to a different, less valuable page and keep charging

What happens to verification

Once cancelled, the placement no longer appears in the verification cycle. We stop checking it. Any future changes to the content are on the seller, not us.

Pro-rata refunds

We don't pro-rata mid-month cancellations. Rationale: the seller has already provided the placement for that month; you got the value you paid for.

The one exception: if a placement is cancelled within the first 7 days due to verification failure, your first month is fully refunded.

Cancelling and re-subscribing

You can cancel and re-subscribe to the same listing at any time, subject to availability. The seller doesn't get preferential treatment for re-subscribers, but continuous-placement loyalty discounts reset if there's a gap.

Bulk cancellations (Buyer Pro)

Buyer Pro subscribers can cancel multiple placements in one operation via the bulk tools panel. Standard rules still apply to each.
